Xunantunich, Cave Tubing & zip line From Belize City

The adventure begins with a scenic drive up the Western Highway to the Cayo (pronounced Ky-o) District. Xunantunich (Maya for “Maiden of the Rock”) sits just inside the Western border of Belize. Before reaching the entrance of this ancient city, your party will board a 19th century hand-cranked ferry which takes you across the Mopan River. The ruins are actually located on one of the highest plateaus in the area and it is possible to climb to the top of “El Castillo”, the largest of the temples at this site. From this vantage point, one gains a panoramic view of the Cayo District and nearby Guatemala. Your Cave Tubing adventures starts with a jungle trail hike where your guide will point out various plants, roots, and herbs once used by the ancient Maya. The entrance tunnel that heads into the underground cave system is the start of an "eye opening" adventure. Your guide hands out head-lamps, and you are ready to float in inflated inner tubes assisted by gentle currents taking you through the cave system The Zip Line Excursion starts a few feet from your tender in the Port of Belize City where you will board your van for the drive to the Belizean Foothills. The drive will take you to the Western Highway for approximately 50 minutes where you will reach the limestone Hills of Belize. Once at the Zip Line location the Guides will help you with your gear, your harness, Helmet and Hand Gear in preparation for your aerial adventure. A short 5 minute walk in this amazing natural rainforest will bring you to the start of the excursion where you will once again be instructed on the zip line method.
